A native of Hagonoy, Bulacan, a Bachelor of Fine Arts graduate from the University of Santo Tomas (1968); at the Artist League of New York U.S.A. (1984); School of Visual Arts, New York U.S.A. (1996).
AL PEREZ has a touch that is definitely his own, noted from his own meticulous and realistic rendition of old churches. He has recorded every important church in the country. He has done considerable research and traveling, painting hundreds of churches from one end of the country to the other. He is the acknowledge aquarelle master of baroque churches.
The works of AL PEREZ however is not devoted exclusively to churches. Some genre painting of Philippine rural scenes, of houses, nipa houses, portraits, nudes, and flowers. So many Critics have only generous praises for the fine, lyrical lines and color of AI, taking note of the artist’s super real treatment of his subject and the romantic element of his artistry.
AL PERAZ is an ambassador to the International Exhibit as well: participated in the 1998 ASEAN group exhibit in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. 1984 – Philippine representative at the Philippine Trade Center in New York, Washington and San Francisco, U.S.A. art exhibit. After which he observed cathedral, museums, and art galleries in European countries like London, Paris, Germany, Amsterdam, Belgium, Geneva and Rome.1986 – One of the Philippione representatives to the Cuban Bienale in Havana. 1987 – He had one – man exhibit in Dubai, United Arab Emirates for two months after which he toured other Middle East countries. 1987 – One of the Philippine delegates to People’s Republic of China to observe museums, art galleries and artists. 1988 – One pf the Philippine representatives to Singapore 17th International Festival of Arts. 1988 – participated in the First Filipino Visual Arts Festival Group Exhibit in San Francisco, U.S.A. 1989 – One – man Show in Takatsuki, Yokohama Japan. 1992 – Participated in Hudson Bay’s of Toronto , Canada in Asean promotional exhibit. Participated in the 1992 International Water Color exhibit in Kashion, Taiwan. 1996 One-Man show at the Philippine Center New York, U.S.A. 1997 – One-Man Show at Rizal Center, Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. 1998 – One-Man Show Bonn, Germany. 1999 One-Man Show Tokyo, Japan. 2000 – Group show Vatican, Rome, Ilatly. He is the President of Lakan Sining Bulacan. 1976 AAP thirteenth most promising awardee. 1980 – Awardee for the Most Outstanding Bulakeño in the Field of Painting. 1985 Outstanding Citizen Award in Hagonoy. 1989 Araw ng Maynila Cultural Awardee for visual Art. 2000 – Awardee Pangaral ng Bayan (Centenial). 2001 Huwarang Pilipino Awardee. AL PEREZ included in the 1995 Who’s Who in International Art, Published by Lausanne, Switzerland. Also featured in the book of embassies & consulates in the Philippines and Best of the Philippines. Winner of various art competitions. He is represented in several museums and private collection locally and abroad.
